Contractor FAQ

  • No. Scope Smart is not a lead-selling platform.

Projects are not sent out to dozens of contractors and there is no paying for leads. Instead, homeowners browse a small curated group of contractors in each trade and county and choose which contractor they want to request a quote from.

Because the network is limited, contractors are not competing against a large pool of companies for every project.

  • Contractors do not pay anything to join Scope Smart.

    There are:

    No sign-up fees
    No monthly subscriptions
    No paying for leads

You only pay a small success fee after you complete a project that originated through Scope Smart.

Once a project is finished , the contractor simply reports the completed project amount. The success fee is then calculated based on the project value using our tiered structure.

Success fees are capped to keep them predictable, and they are designed to stay far lower than the cost of traditional lead-generation platforms.

If you don’t win the project, you pay nothing.

  • Scope Smart limits the number of contractors per trade in each county.

Typically, there are no more than three contractors per trade per county listed on the platform.

When a homeowner needs a service, they can view those contractors and decide which company they would like to request a quote from. Requests are not automatically sent to every contractor.

This structure helps reduce unnecessary competition and avoids the “race to the bottom” that often happens on lead-generation platforms.

  • There isn’t one. Scope Smart only earns a small success fee after a completed project that originated through the platform. Contractors do not pay for leads, there are no subscriptions, and there are no upfront costs.

  • Scope Smart limits the number of contractors per trade in each county to maintain quality and avoid oversaturation. In most cases, no more than three contractors per trade will be listed in a county.

  • Scope Smart is a curated contractor network.

Contractors are selected based on factors such as licensing, insurance, experience, and reputation. Because the platform limits the number of contractors per trade and location, not every contractor who applies will be accepted.

The goal is to maintain a high-quality network of professionals for homeowners while ensuring contractors are not competing with an excessive number of companies.

  • Scope Smart is actively onboarding contractors in select markets as we continue to expand the platform.

Our network is intentionally limited to a small number of contractors per trade in each county to maintain quality and avoid oversaturation. Because of this, availability can vary depending on the location and trade.

We are currently focused on growing in South Florida, Central Florida, Tampa Bay, & Southwest Florida with plans to expand into additional markets as the platform grows.

If your trade and county still has availability, you may qualify to join as one of the founding contractors for that area.

  • Contractors are responsible for maintaining any licenses or insurance required for their trade and location.

If your trade does not require you to have a license or insurance, then you do not need to have it.

  • Any disputes related to work quality, pricing, delays, or performance are handled directly between the customer and the contractor. Scope Smart may facilitate communication but is not responsible for resolving disputes.

  • Contractors collect payment directly from the client.

Scope Smart does not process or hold payments for projects. Contractors handle their own contracts, invoices, and payment schedules just as they normally would.

Once a project that originated through Scope Smart is completed and payment is received from the client, the contractor simply reports the completed project amount via email or via the project update link in the website footer. The applicable success fee is then calculated based on the project value.

This approach allows contractors to maintain full control over their pricing, contracts, and payment terms.

  • No. Scope Smart does not manage or mediate communication between contractors and homeowners.

Once a homeowner requests a quote and connects with a contractor, all communication happens directly between the homeowner and the contractor.

    This allows contractors to:

    • discuss project details directly
    • schedule site visits
    • provide estimates
    • negotiate scope and pricing

just as they normally would outside of the platform.

Scope Smart simply facilitates the initial introduction.

  • If you do not win the project, there is no cost to you.

Contractors only pay a success fee after completing a project that came through Scope Smart.

Submitting a quote or speaking with a homeowner does not create any fees or obligations.

  • No. Scope Smart is intended to supplement your existing marketing, not replace it.

Contractors are encouraged to continue using their current marketing strategies such as referrals, advertising, and repeat customers.

The platform simply provides another way for homeowners to discover and connect with trusted contractors in their area.

  • Scope Smart focuses primarily on residential projects such as:

    • repairs and maintenance
    • remodeling and renovations
    • specialty trade services
    • installation work

Project sizes can range from small repair jobs to larger renovation projects depending on the contractor’s trade and service area.

  • No. All contractors and handymen on Scope Smart are independent service providers, not employees of Scope Smart. Customers contract directly with the service provider they choose.
